I was a bit apprehensive about hanging a large (and heavy) older LCD TV on a wall by myself. Once I figured out a work-around for the provided anchors that were completely useless on my plaster and cement block walls, I'm confident the TV is now securely mounted for a long, long time.
The holes in the wall bracket are not necessarily spaced to where studs are located so mounting a plank of wood to the wall with cabinet screws and using nuts and bolts to fasten the bracket to the wood may be a solution.
